Rivers Assembly Commences Impeachment Move Against Governor Fubara, His Deputy, Ngozi Ordu, Over Alleged Gross Misconduct

Rivers State House of Assembly has commenced impeachment proceedings against Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his deputy, Ngozi Ordu, over allegations of gross misconduct.

The Deputy Speaker, Mr. Maol Dumle, moved a motion to begin the impeachment process, citing the governor’s alleged “misconduct, unbecoming of a governor”.

Governor Fubara has responded to the allegations, challenging the Assembly to make public his offenses that warrant impeachment, describing the allegations as baseless and assured the people of Rivers State that he would continue to defend their interests.

The impeachment move comes amid tensions in the state, with reports of a bombing incident at the House of Assembly complex. Governor Fubara condemned the attack, describing it as an attempt to divert attention from the impeachment proceedings.
