Chief Dr. Amos Gizo has made a strong start as the new Chairman of the Lower Benue River Basin Development Authority, hitting the ground running on a Wednesday on his first day in office by embarking on a comprehensive tour of the Agriculture Farm in Makurdi, accompanied by top management, including Managing Director Engr. Ninga Terese.
This strategic move allowed Dr Gizo to gain a firsthand understanding of the farm’s operations, including its maize farm, poultry farm, fish farm, and other vital components.
During the tour, the farm manager emphasized the significance of each segment and shed light on how the farm serves as a training hub for youths and women, empowering them to become self-sufficient. Notably, the farm has a particular focus on NYSC members, demonstrating its commitment to nurturing the next generation of agricultural leaders.
However, the farm manager also highlighted a pressing concern: only two of the farm’s four boreholes are currently functional.
This infrastructure challenge underscores the need for urgent attention and investment to ensure the farm’s long-term sustainability.
Chief Dr. Gizo’s response to this challenge was reassuring, as he assured the management of his unwavering commitment to revamping the Authority and propelling it to greater heights.
