Tragedy Strikes in Plateau State: Police Foil Kidnapping Attempt, Lose Two Officers

A daring operation by the Plateau State Police Command resulted in the arrest of four suspected kidnappers, but not without sacrifice. Two police operatives, Fatoyo Femi and Inspector Dafur Dashit, lost their lives during a gun battle with the suspects.

The incident occurred on Tuesday evening in the Little Rayfield area of Jos around the new government House round about, where residents reported hearing gunshots around 9 pm.

According to eyewitnesses, the kidnappers had attempted to abduct some individuals, but the swift intervention of the police foiled the plan.

The Plateau State Police Command confirmed the incident in a statement released by DSP Alfred Alabo, Public Relations Officer.

The statement revealed that the arrested suspects are currently being investigated, and further developments will be communicated in due course.

Commissioner of Police, CP Emmanuel Olugbemiga Adesina, has appealed for calm in the state, assuring residents that the situation is under control.
