Breaking News: Prof. Chris Kwaja Officially Joins APC, Receives Party Membership Card

A renowned international peace and security expert and special envoy to the Plateau state Governor Professor Chris Kwaja has officially joined the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Prof. Kwaja, was received on Thursday during a brief ceremony at his Ward of Gurum in Bassa Local Government Area, marking a new step in his political journey, a development many believe will enlarge the coast of the APC in Bassa LGA and the entire state.

The APC Ward Chairman of Gurum in Bassa Local Government Area, Alhaji Rilwanu Usman, who presented the membership card to Prof. Kwaja warmly welcomed him into the party in company of thousands of supporters who trouped out for them ceremony, describing the decision as a step in the right direction.

He also assured Prof. Kwaja of the party’s support and unity, adding that members of the APC in the ward are ready to work together with him to strengthen the party and promote development in the area.

While receiving his APC membership card, Prof. Chris Kwaja said his decision was based on the current political situation in the country. He explained that he carefully studied the direction of leadership at both the national and state levels before taking the step.

“The political landscape has shifted. It has shifted based on certain undercurrents that are happening. One is what we see in terms of the national outlook. Where the president is working hard to unite Nigerians. Bringing people from different religions, ethnicities, regions together. Nigeria is the focus and some of us believe that we can contribute in our own modest way to achieving the goal of a united Nigeria.”

He added that he is convinced by the efforts of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang in promoting unity and development.

According to him, joining the APC will give him the opportunity to support their vision and add value to the process.“One of the major areas of focus for me as a member of the APC is to ensure that the renewal agenda of Mr. President.

“The time is now mantra of the Governor, aligned to our main focus of achieving peace, unity, progress and equity in Nigeria. So I will be contributing my quota in that context, because without peace there is no development, without peace there is no harmony.”

Prof. Kwaja also dismissed claims that Nigeria is turning into a one-party state. He said every Nigerian has the right to vote and speak out, adding that political parties must allow internal democracy and constructive criticism to strengthen the country.

Barr. Beatrice C.J. Dakas, National Coordinator of Renew Hope Advocates for Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu 2027, praised Prof. Chris Kwaja for joining the APC.

She said his decision is a big gain for the party, Bassa LGA, Plateau State and Nigeria, adding that his membership will strengthen unity and progress.

She also said Prof. Kwaja’s experience in peacebuilding and leadership will help attract development to the state and the nation. According to her, Renew Hope Advocates is working to support President Tinubu’s re-election in 2027 because of the progress made under his leadership.

Hon. Sarah Bali, the APC Women Leader and an aspirant for the position of Local Government Chairman in Bassa LGA, commended Prof. Chris Kwaja for joining the party. She described his decision as a welcome development, saying his experience and commitment to peace and unity will strengthen the APC and promote growth in Bassa and Plateau State.

Other invited guests and party stakeholders who spoke during the event praised Prof. Kwaja’s decision, describing his coming as a blessing to the family considering his political experience and leadership qualities.
