An Adamawa socio-cultural organisation, the Pene Da Bwate Development Association (PDBDA), has raised a fresh alarm over alleged Monday’s deadly shooting of women protesters in Lamurde Local Government Area by soldiers of the Nigerian Army, calling on President Bola Tinubu and the nation’s defence hierarchy to immediately order an independent, transparent investigation into the “shameful massacre.”
Addressing journalists Friday in Yola, the state capital, the group revealed that the death toll from the incident has climbed to 11, among them an 11-year-old girl, insisting the killings were “reckless, unjustifiable and targeted.”
The shooting occurred on December 8, 2025, during a protest by women in Lamurde Local Government Area, Adamawa State, who were demanding protection from communal violence. The military has denied involvement, claiming local militias were responsible.
Amnesty International has also called for a thorough and impartial investigation, condemning the use of live ammunition without warning as unlawful. Former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar has echoed this call, emphasizing the need for accountability and justice for the victims.
