President Bola Tinubu has announced plans to visit Benue State on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, to commiserate with the people over recent deadly attacks that have claimed scores of lives.
The President made this announcement during the commissioning of the Greater Abuja Water Supply Network in the Federal Capital Territory.
To facilitate this visit, President Tinubu has suspended his scheduled official visit to Kaduna State, which will now take place on Thursday, June 19, 2025.
The President’s visit to Benue State aims to foster peace and address the persistent conflict affecting communities in the state.During his visit, President Tinubu plans to hold a town hall meeting with stakeholders, including traditional rulers, politicians, religious leaders, community leaders, and youth groups, to seek lasting solutions to the hostilities.
In preparation for the visit, the President has dispatched key officials to Benue State, including the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Inspector General of Police, heads of intelligence agencies, National Security Adviser, and Chairmen of the Senate and House Defence Committees.
In a statement, President Tinubu called on leaders and residents to embrace peace, love, and mutual understanding, while extending condolences to the families of victims and those who have suffered losses.
The recent attacks in Benue State have reportedly claimed over 200 lives, prompting the President to take swift action to address the crisis.
The President’s visit is expected to bring hope and relief to the people of Benue State, who have been affected by the persistent conflict.
The visit also demonstrates the government’s commitment to addressing the security challenges facing the state and promoting peace and stability in the region.
