The Plateau Fertilizer Sellers’ Association Inaugurates New Leadership, Aims To Bring Order And Sanity To The Industry.

The Plateau chapter of the Fertilizer Sellers’ Association has elected a new leadership team, led by Chairman Comrade Geoffrey Bisat.

The inauguration ceremony, held on May 7, 2025, at Simmer Restaurant in Rayfield, Jos, was attended by members from all 17 local government areas of Plateau State.

In his acceptance speech, Chairman Mr Bisat, pledged to introduce reforms to strengthen the association and ensure value for farmers’ money.

He emphasized the association’s commitment to the agricultural sector, supplying 90% of farm inputs, and promised to sanitize the system by screening members to sell quality products from reliable companies.

Bisat highlighted the association’s partnership with the government, advising on interventions, procurement, and timely delivery of farm inputs. He also addressed allegations of fertilizer diversion, warning members to comply and avoid trouble.

The new chairman outlined his vision for the next four years, focusing on building unity, promoting intra-association business, and sharing information on quality products. He aims to operate as a united body, working with government agencies and partners to achieve shared success.

Hon. Matthew Sylvanus Kwarpo, a member of the Plateau State House of Assembly, charged the new leadership to live up to expectations, ensuring sufficient fertilizer availability and working closely with stakeholders to drive development on the Plateau.

The lawmaker noted that the Plateau State Government’s goal, under Barr. Caleb Mutfwang’s leadership, is to provide farmers with fertilizer on time and at affordable prices.

He expressed optimism that the new leadership would work effectively with the government and stakeholders to achieve this goal.

The newly elected officers include:

  • Secretary: Sirajo Alwar’u
  • Assistant Secretary: Sagir Muhammad Garba
  • Treasurer: Mrs. Margaret Moar
  • Auditor: Ismaila Abubakar
  • Organizing Secretary: Kamal Mohammad
  • Chief Whip 1: Rabiu Mohammed
  • Chief Whip 2: Sandi Titus Dapam
  • PRO 1: Ishaku Musa
  • PRO 2: Hamza Yakubu

The event was attended by representatives from various government agencies, including the Plateau State Government, Plateau State House of Assembly, Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Nigerian Police, and others.
