The senior Special Assistant to the executive Governor Of Plateau State On Middle-Belt Ethnic Nationalities Hon. Dan Kwada has expressed sadness over the passing of the former FCT Minister Lieutenant General Jeremiah Timbut Useni, a renowned military strategist, statesman, and champion of the Middle-Belt Struggle.
Hon. Dan Kwada, in a statement personally signed by him and made available to African Drum, stated that the news of Gen. Useni’s death came as a rude shock, describing the loss as monumental, not only to his family and the people of Plateau State, but to the entire Middle Belt region.
According to Hon. Kwada, Gen. Useni’s unflinching commitment to the Middle-Belt cause, unwavering fortitude in the face of adversity, and selfless service to the country will live on in the nation’s memory.
The SSA remembered Gen. Useni was an elder statesman who demonstrated exceptional leadership, courage, and vision throughout his illustrious career, as well as a military officer who served with distinction, rising through the ranks to become a Lieutenant General, earning numerous accolades and recognition for his military exploits and strategic brilliance.
He recalled, that it was his tireless advocacy for the rights and interests of the Middle-Belt people that truly defined his legacy adding that the late General was a vocal critic of injustice, fierce defender of the oppressed, and a passionate advocate for the development and progress of the region which earned him the name (Baba Mai Tuwo).
“As Governor Caleb Mutfwang’s Senior Special Assistant on Middle-Belt Ethnic Nationalities, I had the privilege of working with Lt. Gen. Useni on various initiatives aimed at promoting peace, understanding, and development in our region. His wisdom, guidance, and unwavering support were invaluable, and his passing leaves a gaping void in our midst”.
Kwada further acknowledged that Lt. Gen. Useni’s legacy will live on through the countless lives he has touched, the many communities he empowered, and the enduring impact of his selfless service to our nation.
“As we mourn the passing of this iconic leader, we recommit ourselves to the values he embodied: courage, resilience, and an unwavering commitment to the welfare and prosperity of our people”.
While offering his condolences to the immediate family, the Taroh Nation, the Government and entire people of the Plateau, his business associates, friends and well wishers, Hon Kwada prayed for his legacy to continue to inspire and motivate people to strive for a brighter future for the Middle-Belt region and Nation nation at large.
