Plateau State is meticulously preparing for the forthcoming 2025 Unity Christmas Carols and Praise Festival, a meticulously curated three-day event strategically designed to heal long-standing divisions and rebuild trust among its diverse communities. Governor Caleb Mutfwang aptly describes the festival as a potent instrument for restoring social cohesion and reaffirming the shared identity of the Plateau people.
During an inspection tour of the festival venue, Governor Mutfwang underscored his administration’s unwavering commitment to nurturing unity and strengthening communal ties across the state. He expressed sanguine confidence that the festival would evolve into a significant platform for fostering peace and mutual understanding, thereby contributing to the state’s socio-economic development.
The festival is scheduled to take place from November 28 to 30 at the Ten Commandments Prayer Altar in Du, Jos South, commencing daily at 3:30 p.m. Samuel Jatau, Secretary to the State Government and Chairman of the Central Planning Committee, announced that preparations have reached an advanced stage, and the programme has been carefully crafted to uplift spirits, celebrate diversity, and highlight God’s enduring love and protection over the state.
A host of dignitaries are expected to attend, including former Heads of State Gen. Yakubu Gowon and Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, Minister of Art, Culture and the Creative Economy Hannatu Musawa, former Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, and Senior Pastor of Dunamis International Gospel Centre Dr. Paul Enenche. The festival will feature performances by celebrated gospel artistes Sinach, Buchi, Uche, and Loretta, alongside the esteemed Kungiyan Nasari Choir from Katsina. Additionally, choirs from Abuja, denominational groups, women’s fellowships, and ensembles from Plateau are slated to participate, ensuring a rich cultural tapestry.
Comprehensive security measures have been put in place to ensure a safe and seamless experience for attendees. Brigadier General Gakji Shipi, the sub committee chairman on security assured the public that designated parking areas would be fully secured, and crowd management and transportation logistics have been meticulously planned.
Furthermore, the organisers of the children’s Bible quiz and recitation competition have completed the final stages of the contest, involving participants aged three to eighteen. Winners across various categories will receive prizes and plaques from Governor Mutfwang at the closing ceremony, making it a momentous occasion for the young participants.
