The Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs in Nigeria under the leadership of His Eminence the Sultan of Sokoto has opposed the creation of Zaar (Sayawa) Chiefdom’s headquarters in Tafabalewa, Bauchi State, North East Nigeria.
In a letter written by the NSCIA and signed by the Secretary General of the organisation Professor Is-shaq Oloyode, the Council vehemently objected to the restoration of Sayawa Chiefdom in Tafabalewa, Southern Bauchi by Governor Bala Muhammad, saying it is not in the interest of Peace.
According to Oloyode, the council unequivocally rejects the Plan to site the Headquarters of the Sayawa Chiefdom in Tafawa-Balewa because it is a recipe for ethno-religious Crisis Meanwhile, the Zaar people have insisted that they have been deprived of leadership because of their ethnicity and religion.
They explained, that the Zaar People are a native ethnic groups in Bauchi State who do not want to be subjected to the Bauchi Emirate.According to them, the land which they occupied is their ancestral heritage and its only 1% of the entire Bauchi state.
