The Forum of Chairmen of the 12 River Basin Development Authorities, led by Chief Dr. Amos Gizo, paid a courtesy visit to His Excellency Senator George Akume, Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), in Abuja.
The visit, which followed their appointment by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR, provided an opportunity for the Forum to commend the President and the SGF for the confidence reposed in them.
In a statement signed by the Chief Gizo Media Information & Resource Center of Saturday disclosed, that during the visit, the Forum also commiserated with Senator Akume over the recent tragic killings of innocent citizens of Benue State by suspected Fulani herdsmen.
Chief Dr. Gizo expressed sympathy to Senator Akume and the people of Benue State, strongly condemning the loss of lives in the affected communities.
The Forum further expressed its profound gratitude to President Tinubu and Senator Akume for entrusting them with leadership roles in the Renewed Hope Agenda, focused on achieving food security. As the Chairman of Lower Benue River Basin Development Authority and Coordinating Chairman of the 12 River Basin Development Authorities, Dr. Gizo pledged the Forum’s unwavering loyalty to Senator Akume, acknowledging his exceptional leadership as the SGF.
He concluded with a prayer for God’s protection, good health, and wisdom for Senator Akume as he carried out his duties.
In response, Senator Akume congratulated the Chairmen on their appointments and thanked them for their condolences.
He extended his condolences to the government and people of Benue State, particularly the families affected by the recent violence.
The SGF urged the Chairmen to work tirelessly towards eradicating hunger in Nigeria, assuring them of the government’s support and synergy to achieve their objectives.
This meeting highlights the Forum’s commitment to collaboration with the government in addressing critical issues and fostering national development.
