In a significant development, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has reinstated Senator Samuel Anyanwu as its National Secretary.
The decision, announced by Acting National Chairman Ambassador Iliya Damagum, is seen as a major boost to the influence of Nyesom Wike within the party.
According to Damagum, the reinstatement follows a meeting between PDP leaders and Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Chairman Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, where INEC urged the party to comply with a Supreme Court judgment affirming Anyanwu’s position.
The PDP had initially planned to hold a National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting, but this has been cancelled and replaced with an expanded caucus scheduled for June 30.
