Former Nigerian Chief of Army Staff, Tukur Yusufu Buratai, has expressed concerns over the current economic hardship in Nigeria under President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
He described the situation as “radical, massive, and sudden,” noting that while poverty has been a gradual issue in the country, it has worsened significantly under the current leadership.
Buratai emphasized that the hardship is more visible and direct, stating, “For too long, we’ve been suffering gradually—suffering and smiling. But this time, the hardship is more visible, more direct. It tells us that we must fix things because we cannot continue like this.”
He made these remarks during the 60th birthday celebration of former minister and Governor of Rivers State, Rotimi Amaechi.
The former military chief’s comments suggest a growing concern among Nigerians about the economic situation, with many people struggling to make ends meet.
