Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, has announced the release of N3 billion to settle gratuities for local government retirees, following his commitment to the welfare of retirees in the state.
This announcement comes less than 24 hours after he pledged N5 billion to settle state-level retirees’ gratuities during a meeting with labor leaders.
Governor Fintiri made the disclosure at the Bwatiye 2025 International Cultural Festival and Development Foundation Fundraising in Yola, where he assured that the funds would be disbursed next month.
The Governor commended the Bwatiye community for hosting the event, themed “Culture and Development,” which he believes fosters unity among the people.
During the event, Dr. Agbu Kefas, Chairman of the occasion, donated N15 million to the fundraising effort, describing Adamawa and Taraba States as “twin sisters” sharing commonalities.
Chief James Iliya, President of Pena Da Bwatiye Development Association Worldwide, noted that the festival aimed to celebrate unity and promote shared prosperity.
The colorful event drew government officials, politicians, traditional rulers, and prominent individuals from Adamawa and beyond.
