Breaking News: PDP Demands Accountability From Ex-Governor Lalong Over Missing 400 Tractors

Abuja, Nigeria – May 30, 2025

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Plateau State has called on former Governor Simon Bako Lalong to provide a detailed explanation regarding the alleged disappearance of 400 tractors purchased during his administration.

The 400 tractors which were purchased with the state government money and commissioned on March 9, 2018, by former President Muhammadu Buhari, with Lalong stating that they were bought to boost agricultural productivity in the state.

The PDP in a statement signed by it’s Publicity Secretary in the State Hon. Jonathan Amande, wants to know if the procurement process was transparent and if the tractors were properly distributed.

The party demands that Lalong’s administration account for the purchase and deployment of the tractors, given the significant investment of public resources.

The party for the worm that failure to Failure to provide immediate answers may lead to the PDP petitioning the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to arrest and investigate Lalong and his administration for unaccountability.

The PDP emphasizes the need for good governance, transparency, and accountability in managing state affairs.

With the farming season underway, the party finds it puzzling that Plateau State hasn’t seen significant improvements in mechanized farming, considering the number of tractors allegedly purchased by the Lalong Administration.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Plateau State commends the efforts made by the current administration, led by Governor Caleb Mutfwang, in empowering farmers across the 17 Local Government Areas of the state with fertilizers and other essential agricultural materials.

As at the time of filing in this report, our correspondence gathered that some groups of Formers across the 17 Local Government Areas have joined the chorus calling on the former governor to account for the purported missing 400 tractors.
