The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) North Central Zone has successfully concluded its zonal congress in Jos, Plateau State, marking a significant step towards strengthening the party’s presence in the region.
The congress, held at the Langfield Leisure Park, culminated in the election of new party officials, with Mohammed Abdulrahman emerging as the National Vice Chairman.
The congress was widely praised for its peacefulness and transparency, with most new executives emerging unopposed.
The electoral process was conducted in compliance with the provisions of the Electoral Act, with voting and counting duly observed in all positions.
The newly elected officials include: Abdulrahman Mohammed, as National Vice Chairman, Orogu Francis, as Zonal Secretary and Ndagana Alhasan, as Zonal Youth Leader, all for the North Central Zone.
In his acceptance speech, Abdulrahman Mohammed, expressed gratitude for the confidence reposed in him and pledged to reposition the PDP for greater electoral success in the North Central zone.
He described the zone as a stronghold of the party and called on members to rally behind the new leadership to return the party to its winning ways.
Plateau State Governor and leader of the Party in the North Central, Caleb Mutfwang, commended the newly elected executives and urged them to unite the party across the zone.
He thanked the electoral committee, led by Dr. Kabiru Tenimu Turaki SAN, and the local organizing committee, headed by Senator Napoleon Bali, for their efforts in ensuring a smooth and peaceful congress.
The governor charged the new leadership to hit the ground running, reconcile differences, and build a strong, united front ahead of the 2027 elections.
He assured the party of continuous support in nurturing the PDP to meet the aspirations of Nigerians.
The congress attracted key stakeholders from across the North Central region, including former Senate Presidents, past and serving Governors, National and State Assembly members, former Ministers, and other party stalwarts.
Delegates from seven states, including Plateau, Nasarawa, Benue, Niger, Kwara, Kogi, and the Federal Capital Territory (Abuja), participated in the Congress.
The successful congress marks a new chapter in the PDP’s history in the North Central zone, with renewed hope and unity among party members.
The party’s leadership is expected to work towards reclaiming political leadership in the region come 2027.
