Plateau State will host the 13th National Delegates Conference of the Forum of State Independent Electoral Commissions of Nigeria (FOSIECON) from May 21st to 23rd, 2025, in Jos.
The conference, themed “Local Government Elections in Nigeria: Issues, Challenges and Opportunities,” will bring together electoral commissions from across the country to discuss key issues and chart a path forward.
The Chairman of the Plateau State Independent Electoral Commission (PLASIEC), Mr. Plangji Cishak who made the disclosure at a press briefing today in Jos called on journalists to rise to the occasion and provide comprehensive coverage of the conference.
He emphasized the critical role journalists play in educating the public and ensuring the success of democratic processes.
He further disclosed that the conference will feature discussions on the future of State Independent Electoral Commissions (SIECs), electoral reforms, and civic engagement.
Over 304 delegates from 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory are expected to attend, including chairmen, commissioners, and secretaries of SIECs, governors, and members of the National Assembly.
