Gunmen have attacked the Zike Kimakpa community in Irigwe Chiefdom of Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau state, killing over 45 people and injuring many others.

The attack, which occurred late Sunday night, left the community in grief and devastation, with many homes razed down.

Danjuma Dickson Auta, Secretary General of the Irigwe Development Association, confirmed the attack, stating that the violence seemed well-planned and coordinated.
The Plateau State Government strongly condemned the attack, describing it as “one too many” and a threat to the state’s peace.

The Commissioner of Information and Communication, Hon Joyce Ramnap, emphasized the government’s determination to deal decisively with those responsible.
She urged residents to remain calm and vigilant while advising against reprisals.

This incident follows another attack in Bokkos local government less than two weeks prior, highlighting the need for increased security measures in the region.
