President Bola Tinubu has made a historic move towards balanced regional development by signing the South-West Development Commission (SWDC) and South-South Development Commission (SSDC) bills into law.
This landmark decision on Tuesday marks the completion of Nigeria’s geo-political development architecture, with all six geo-political zones now having statutory development agencies.
The SWDC and SSCD are expected to drive economic growth, infrastructure development, and job creation in their respective regions, modeled after the existing Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) and the South-East Development Commission.
The commissions will focus on facilitating infrastructural projects, industrial expansion, and job creation, ultimately uplifting communities across the country.
