Breaking News: Senate Moves To Suspends Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan For 6 Months.

The Senate Committee on Ethics has recommended a six-month suspension for Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan due to the controversy surrounding her sexual harassment allegations against Senate President Godswill Akpabio.

This decision comes after weeks of tension within the chamber.The committee, chaired by Senator Neda Imasuen, found Akpoti-Uduaghan’s allegations to be “frivolous and baseless.

The suspension, which would take effect today, Thursday March 6, 2025, is also accompanied by other penalties, including the withdrawal of her salary and security details during the suspension period.

Additionally, the committee advised that Akpoti-Uduaghan apologize to the Senate for “disrespecting the institution”.

This development follows a series of events, including Akpoti-Uduaghan’s submission of a petition accusing Senate President Godswill Akpabio of sexual harassment, and her subsequent confrontation with Akpabio over a reassignment of her seat in the chamber.
